A lot of people praise microblading as the perfect way to enhance eyebrows, especially if they were sparse, patchy, and uneven. If you want to wake up with perfect brows, unworried about them coming off after a shower, or swimming, getting your eyebrows microbladed may be a good idea.

But first, you need to learn what is microblading eyebrows and what comes with it. So let’s dig into it.

What is Microblading?

Some people say it is a tattoo, some say it isn’t. What’s the truth?

Microblading is a form of a brow tattoo, so you may think that it will be on your face forever. Don’t let that scare you! No, microblading is not done in the same way as a traditional body tattoo.

A delicate hand tool with tiny needles is used to insert pigments of natural origin into the surface layer of the skin. The pigment does not stay there forever, it starts fading after some time.

Microblading Is Not Permanent

When will my microblading start fading?

Microblading is semi-permanent and usually lasts 1.5-2 years, but longevity is not the same for everyone. For example, people with oily skin will probably notice that their microbladed brows started fading sooner, while others still can have great microblading after 2 years.

It Can Be a Bit Uncomfortable

I can’t stand the pain, I am afraid that microblading is going to be painful?

We have to admit that having a blade scratching the surface of your skin does sound painful. The level of pain during microblading is individual. Some people claim that is not painful at all, while those with super sensitive skin find the treatment barely bearable.

Microblading artists use a numbing solution to numb the area and reduce the pain, so on average, most people find microblading just slightly uncomfortable.

Microblading Aftercare Is Really Important

I saw people complaining that their microblading disappeared a few days after the treatment? Why does that happen?

If you plan to have your brows microbladed, you must not forget how important aftercare is. If not handled properly, it can ruin the whole process! You wash your eyebrows improperly, your microblading is gone! You pick the scabs, the pigment comes off!

So, follow the aftercare rules re-li-gi-ous-ly! If you need a reminder of what is microblading aftercare like and the whole list of microblading aftercare DOs and DON’Ts, check them out here.

Stay Strong During the Healing Process

I saw some people having awful brows right after microblading. What is microblading healing like?

Yes, most eyebrows don’t look so great until they are healed. The microblading healing process lasts for about a month. This is also individual, some people heal faster, some take more time. During this period, your brows may look patchy, start peeling, then lose pigment (it will come back, don’t worry).

It is important not to judge the success of the treatment during the healing process. You must WAIT until your eyebrows are completely healed to see the results of microblading and be prepared for what is microblading brow shock – new brows take getting used to.

And You Need a Touch Up

My microblading artist says that I have to come again 6 weeks after the treatment. What is microblading touch up?

Think of microblading as a two-part procedure. The first touch up appointment is mandatory. It is done 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment, once the healing process is finished.

Your microblading artist will fill the patches, if there are any after the healing, and make all the necessary corrections.

Not Everyone Can Have Microblading

Is it true that some people shouldn’t have microblading done?

Microblading is not suitable for people who:

  • have diabetes
  • suffer from serious diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, or autoimmune disorders
  • suffer from any bleeding disorders
  • use blood-thinning medications
  • have viral infections or diseases
  • are going through chemotherapy
  • have skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area

If you fall into any of these categories or suffer from similar conditions, consult your doctor to check if microblading is safe for you.

Microblading Can be Removed

What if I am unhappy with the results?

First of all, don’t panic. If you are unhappy with your microbladed eyebrows during the healing period, you should wait until it is over. Only then can you tell if your brows look good or not. They will not be as dark as they are right after the treatment, the pigment will fade.

If you still hate your new look, you can remove or fade microblading. Learn what is microblading removal like here.

The Cost of Microblading

It seems like the treatment is pricey. What is microblading cost?

It is true that microblading is not cheap. The average cost of microblading eyebrows is $600 in the US. The price depends on different factors such as location, competition, popularity, and the experience of the artist.

Don’t go for the cheapest microblading in town. It is usually a beginner artist and you might regret the decision.

Finding A Good Artist Is the Most Important

I am anxious about whether the artist in my area is skilled enough.

We’ve explained what is microblading – a form of tattoo.
Remember that it is a tattoo on your face and you should do thorough research on the microblading artists in your area. Check for their portfolio, online reviews and ask around people you know who have had a microblading treatment.

A good artist should provide consultation appointments when you should be able to ask anything you want to know about the treatment, preparation, post-care, and possible side effects.

Microblading is Low-Maintenance, Not No-Maintenance

What do I need to do to make my microblading last?

As we said, it is semi-permanent, which means that the pigment will start fading after a year or two, depending on your skin type.

It will also fade sooner if exposed to the sun and water quite often. Therefore, you need to have a color boost touch up appointment, to add more pigment and make it last longer.

The Difference Between Microblading and Powder Brows

Some people say: This is not microblading, it’s Powder Brows. How can I tell the difference?

Microblading makes individual hair strokes and gives a more natural look, while powder brows look softer, powdery as if you are wearing makeup. The Ombre powder brows effect is also popular, with brows being lighter at the head and darker at the tail.

Is Microblading a Good Idea?

Why is microblading so popular?

Now that we’ve explained what is eyebrow microblading, you can see that this brow enhancement method is so popular because it gives your brows shape, density, and fullness, yet still looks natural.

On top of that, it is water-resistant and sweat-resistant. Many people claim that what is microblading’s biggest advantage is the fact that their new brows improved their appearance and thus their self-confidence. They say that it was a life-changing decision.
