Average Microblading Touch-Up Cost in South Africa

The average price of the first touch-up is around R700, but as you may have guessed – the price of a touch-up will depend on several factors.

In general, there are multiple touch-ups: the first is 6-8 weeks after the initial microblading session and is necessary to get the full effect; further sessions are done annually to maintain the brows.

Annual touch ups are relatively affordable, averaging at R200 across the country.

This means that you’ll spend about R1300 in total to get microbladed brows, but the maintenance won’t be so harsh on your wallet.

Average Nanoblading Cost in South Africa

Before we wrap up the article, we have to talk about microblading’s equally popular alternative – nanoblading. The main difference is that nanoblading is done with an even thinner blade, so the results will be even more precise strokes and more natural-looking brows.

The price will (again) depend on those same factors and vary from city to city (and even from salon to salon), but the national average price range is between R1000 and R1500 – somewhat lower than for microblading.

What Does the Microblading Eyebrows Price Include?

Regardless of your location, the price you pay should cover the full treatment, which typically involves 2 visits, the initial pigmentation and the perfecting session.

So, if this is your first time microblading your brows, make sure to ask about it so you can plan and schedule accordingly.

The first thing you’ll do when you get to the salon is sit for a consultation.

During this appointment (or part of the appointment), the tech will ask you about what you want to achieve and possibly draw a sketch using a brow pencil so you can get a feel for what the end result will look like.

The next bit is the appointment itself.

Here, the tech will use a microblading blade and PMU pigment to draw on the individual hairs of the brow. This process usually lasts about 2-3 hours and isn’t painful thanks to the numbing cream that the tech will apply prior to starting the process.

After about 6-8 weeks from the initial appointment, it’ll be time to go in for a touch-up. The touch-up isn’t usually included in the price but is a mandatory part of the microblading process if you want to get the best results.

What Determines the Microblading Eyebrows Price?

The first thing to keep in mind is how exclusive the salon is. For example, something luxurious located in the city center will, by default, be pricier than a more humble spot in the outskirts.

Another thing is the location. A general rule of thumb is the bigger the city, the higher the prices – so if you live in a smaller town, you might just be in luck.

There’s also the experience of the artist – someone who is relatively new will probably charge less. More experienced artists who already have a good reputation will naturally charge more.

How to Choose the Right Microblading Saloon

The best way to go about it is to research artists in your area, look at their before & after portfolios on social media and their websites, and find a couple whose work you like best.

Then, you should also look at the ratings. If you have a little bit of extra time on hand, you can glance at the reviews too for a clearer picture and maybe even a tech recommendation.

When it comes to taking into account those factors we talked about in the last section, we suggest finding a middle ground.

Don’t go to the cheapest artist you can find just to save a few cents, but you don’t need to go to the most glamorous one either to get high-quality service. The quality of the work should be the primary deciding factor.

Some of the cheaper artists can do a great job, while some more expensive artists may be overrated.

Study those before & afters more than the price list – ending up with a botched job and getting corrections or removal will cost you more in the long run!
